ATEX-Compliant Encoders, Counters, and Proximity Switches
In many industrial applications, explosive atmospheres can develop, which means the components used must be ATEX-certified. Hengstler offers a broad range of explosion-proof encoders, counters, and proximity switches specifically designed for these applications.
The main characteristics of Hengstler’s ATEX-compliant components are their compact design, robustness, and versatility. For example, the ACURO AX65 encoder is currently the most compact flameproof absolute encoder on the market. With a diameter of just 59 mm, the AX65 is only about half the size of conventional explosion-proof encoders. Thanks to its small size, the ACURO AX65 absolute encoder is particularly well-suited for confined installation spaces in applications such as the chemical industry, oil and gas extraction, mining, and painting systems. Designers benefit from its very high resolution (16-bit multiturn), high protection ratings (IP66/IP76), and a wide variety of connection hoods, which allow for flexible integration.
Hengstler’s pneumatic totalizers, time counters, and proximity switches are also ideal for use in ATEX Zones 1 and 21. Unlike mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical counters, the 495, 497, and 499 counters operate flawlessly even in environments with high dust levels or electromagnetic interference. They also allow control systems to be built more easily in hazardous environments compared to electronic counters or PLCs.
The Hengstler 490 proximity switches are also ATEX-certified. They detect the exact position of workpieces, tools, or machine components in space, even when a wall made of non-magnetic material is located between the object and the switch. Thanks to their compact size, these switches are suitable for a wide range of applications.
