Absolute + Incremental Encoder
Source: Hengstler on 08.02.2010
Absolute + Incremental EncoderThe ACURO® family of encoders made by Hengstler has established itself thanks to its high precision and reliability.
With the new AC58-I, we have added another member to this family and developed an encoder which can be used both for positioning and feedback applications.

  • In many drive and positioning applications, electric motors are frequently used, with an incremental encoder assuming the feedback and absolute encoders assuming the rotor positioning. Up until now, two encoders had to be integrated in order to attain the desired output signals. Not only did this increase the overall system cost, but narrowed the freedom of engineers in their constructive design.

    Two in One!
With the new AC58-I, Hengstler now offers two encoders in one!
Incremental and absolute encoder signals are combined together in one enclosure.

    The benefits at a glance:
    • Reduced costs and smaller footprint
Absolute and incremental signals are combined in one enclosure
    • Suitable for a wide range of climatic conditions - from Siberia to Africa
      Offering a wide temperature range from -40 °C to 100 °C
    • Reverse-compatible with all common types of frequency converters
Square-wave TTL or HTL signals are available
    • High system accuracy
Resolution of up to 29 bit, up to 2048 increments
    • Interference immunity
Offering high electromagnetic compatibility (up to 2 kV)
    • Non-susceptible to magnetic interference
      Thanks to fully optical scanning
    • Minimized installation time and costs
One connecting cable is all you need.
